Social Media Policy

Social media commonly refers to online platforms and the use of the Internet for blogging, media sharing and social networking.  Social media includes any web-based technology that enables rapid communication and/or networking through the Internet and cellular networks.

Social media includes text, images, audio, and video.  Some examples of social media are (but not limited to):

  • Blogs such as WordPress, Blogger, and Tumblr
  • Social networks such as Facebook and Twitter
  • Professional networks such as LinkedIn
  • Video sharing such as YouTube, Vimeo and GodTube
  • Audio sharing such as Apple and Google Play Podcasts, SoundCloud
  • Photo sharing such as Instagram, Pinterest, and Snapchat
  • Social bookmarking such as Digg, Reddit, or StumbleUpon

Employees, leaders, volunteers or members who have been appointed to officially maintain blogs or social networking accounts on behalf of New Creation Church and choose to identify themselves as employees, leaders, volunteers or members of New Creation Church should state on the relevant platform that views expressed are their own and not necessarily those of New Creation Church.

Employees, leaders, volunteers or members may not post any photographs of children (minors) of New Creation Church without prior parental permission (also see our Photography & Videography policy).

Employees, leaders, volunteers or members may not post any photographs of an unprofessional or inappropriate nature of New Creation Church events, other employees, leaders, volunteers, members or children (minors) of New Creation Church.  If there is any doubt whether a photo is professional or appropriate in its context, it should not be posted.

Employees, leaders, volunteers or members are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with our biblical teaching and our church culture when communicating on blogs or social networking sites and platforms. If an employee, leader, volunteer or member’s postings, comments and or interactions are determined to be inappropriate, offensive, hateful, malicious, uncivil, disrespectful, of financial solicitation, it will be regarded as a violation and thus treated as one.

New Creation Church welcomes, encourages and appreciates propagation of the Gospel and our church by employees, leaders, volunteers and members through social media, in  adherence to this policy.
